Chicken chipotle is tender chicken simmered in a savory tomato-and-chipotle sauce, balanced with onion, cumin and oregano. We press that whole sauce into one bomb so the prep is already done — you bring the chicken and the onions.
Real cooks, real kitchens
What chicken chipotle is
Chicken chipotle is tender chicken tinga simmered in a smoky tomato-and-chipotle sauce, balanced with onion, cumin and oregano. Done from scratch it means rehydrating chiles, blending a sauce, and babysitting a pot. The bomb is that whole sauce, pressed and dried.
Bomb vs. from scratch
| The Chicken Chipotle Bomb | From scratch | |
|---|---|---|
| Real chiles | Dried chipotle — the same chile the recipe uses | You source and rehydrate them |
| A full sauce base | Tomato-chipotle base pressed into the bomb | Blend one yourself from raw |
| Hours, collapsed | One drop-in bomb front-loads the prep | Rehydrate, blend, simmer — an afternoon |
| What you add | Just chicken + onion | Chiles, tomatoes, 4+ spices |
| Cleanup | One pot | Blender + pans |
| Pantry life | 24 months on the shelf | Shop it fresh each time |

Questions, answered
What is a Chicken Chipotle Bomb and what meals can I make with it?
A concentrated seasoning bomb that makes an authentic chicken chipotle recipe at home in under 20 minutes — no marinade, no blending, no hours at the stove. Drop it in a pot with chicken and water, cook, and shred. Serve it as:
- Chicken chipotle bowls & burrito bowls
- Tacos, tostadas & burritos
- Nachos & quesadillas
- Stuffed peppers
- Breakfast hash
Can I use the Chicken Chipotle Bomb to make authentic chicken tinga?
Yes — that’s exactly what it makes. It’s the same chipotle, tomato and spice base as traditional chicken tinga; you just skip the rehydrating, blending and simmering.
How do I use the Chicken Chipotle Bomb in a slow cooker or crockpot?
Bomb, chicken and onions in together, high for 3-4 hours or low for 6, then shred and stir.
Can I use the Chicken Chipotle Bomb in an Instant Pot or pressure cooker?
Yes — that is the fastest route. Cook on high, release, add the onions, then a few minutes more.
What proteins or vegetables pair best with the Chicken Chipotle Bomb?
Chicken thighs or breasts are the classic — but it works on plenty:
- Chicken thighs or breasts (the classic)
- Pork shoulder or carnitas
- Beef chuck or brisket
- Mushrooms or jackfruit for a plant-based bowl
- Add sliced onion to any of them for extra depth
Is the Chicken Chipotle Bomb a good chipotle chicken marinade alternative?
Yes — and it’s easier than a marinade, because it works as it cooks. The concentrated spice blend coats and infuses the chicken for deep, smoky flavor with none of the soaking or prep:
- No overnight marinating
- No blending dried chiles
- Just add chicken, water and the bomb to the pot
- Deep, smoky flavor in a single cook 🌶️✨
